Hi guys, I'll be closing Babble Bible from now on because things have been difficult to manage with so many post plans..haha. I'll still be active here, though, in order to read my vox friends' entries.
I've also opened a new fandom journal that is much more manageable (because I placed strict parameters on myself) but it is over at Livejournal now. The name is Sleep Bubble. If anyone has an lj and would like to add it, I'd be happy to add you back.
Bye bye guys, and thank you! XD
During those days when I can watch anime from Youtube at work (without any worries of being monitored or caught), I was told by my sister to try out Gakuen Heaven. She said it was cute and funny. I researched a bit about the series and found out that it was an anime full of gorgeous boys, hahahhaa. So being the fangirl I am, I tried it out.
The series only has 13 episodes, to begin with. The story is centered on Itou Keita, your average nice guy who is polite and kind to just everyone in the school. He is the most recent transferee in Bell Liberty School which is famous for having students with great abilities and potential. It’s so prestigious that you can’t get in without a personal invitation from the administration. Since Keita didn’t have anything special going on with him, he was obviously surprised about the invitation.
Eventually, he meets the other (lovely) guys in the school. All of them are of course, great in some way. One of them has good leadership skills, the other is superbly athletic, and another is greatly skilled in the arts and so on. Even though Keita is different, they welcomed him to their “circle” of friends.
Later on, issues about Keita’s transferring are questioned because as said before, there’s nothing special about him. But Keita, inspired by his new friends, felt that he needed to assert his place there. Of course, the real reason surprised even him but I won’t go there because I don’t want to be a bad bad spoiler gal. :P
Yup, it’s a yaoi series but I kind of like the love story because there is depth and meaning. Kinda like Gravitation, I guess. As for the music, I prefer the ending song “Panorama”, it’s cute and relaxing.
What made this series funny for me are the beginning scenes every time a new episode starts, a pair of boys would only be heard saying “suggestive” things and then it would turn out that it was not sexual at all, hahahaha, LOL. Then the ending!! The boys as hamtaro mascots in a mini chapter called Hamu Hamu Heaven! Very very cute. :D
A-chan’s rating for Gakuen Heaven: 7 / 10
Card Captor Sakura has a lot of plus factors and one of them is definitely the good music set. With a total of 4 bgm cds for the TV series, one for each of the two movies and about three vocal collections, CCS fans (like me) will never get tired of the lovely background music and catchy theme songs that the show offers.
”Memories of Warmth” is one of my all-time favorite CCS bgm songs. I think it’s only played about two to three times during the whole series but it’s still unforgettable for me. This song is the one that Kinomoto Nadeshiko taught to her son (lovely, fafable Touya) in the piano. During the episode when Sakura inherited her late mom’s old calendar, Touya played this song in the school piano for probably no reason at all (maybe because he saw Sakura leafing eagerly through her mom’s calendar, haha). I absolutely love anime guys who can play the piano. *_*
When I picked this song, I immediately had flashbacks of highschool days, in other words, the MTV days once again. My memory of this song’s music video is very vivid because I remember that it used to be one of my favorites. Just imagine four beautiful gals with different personalities dancing in the bar (on top of the table!) and offering drinks to their customers with flair. And then LeAnn Rimes steps in to give her powerful vocals that fit the atmosphere perfectly. :D
I liked the song before I liked the movie. My friend lent me her copy of “Coyote Ugly” and when I saw it, I loved the song more. It’s just so dancy (is there such word??) and catchy. ^^
Omg. Pure LSS factor. This is what “Sakura Kiss” definitely has. When you hear this song, you’ll probably keep on hearing it in your sleep. :P
I think it was around June or July last year when I got hooked on Ouran. At first, I thought it was a yaoi series (hahaha), but then it turns out to be a reverse harem set-up. Anyway, the song is definitely addictive. Kawabe Chieko’s energetic vocals are so catchy that you can easily sing along with her. And that “kiss kiss fall in love” part at the beginning of the song, hahaha. Well, it doesn’t make sense grammatically but hey, the same goes to most j-songs with English phrases on them. ^^;;
Yay, here’s the continuation of CLAMP’s Suki. If you’d like to read about volume 1, please go here. ^^
The second volume starts with Hina receiving calls without knowing who the caller was. Her teacher, Shirou, comes over for breakfast (at Hina’s invitation) and finds out about it leaving him a little disturbed. Later on, Hina’s bestfriend, Touko, confronts Shirou and openly says that she is suspicious of him. OF course, the teacher dismisses this and leaves her on her own.
Sometime later, Hina (this time with Shirou) meets Tomo once again to the complete shock and disdain of her teacher. We are also introduced to Kizu – a very large and no-nonsense looking guy who is in charge of being Tomo’s bodyguard. Hina also finds out (and rather overjoyed of the discovery) that Tomo is actually the Tomo-kun who is the author of her favorite “Suki” books (the one about bears).
Then, Hina’s class goes on a field trip and Touko and their other friend Emi are rather shocked to see Hina and Asou arriving to school together. This prompts Touko to request Emi to look for some information about their teacher.
On their way home, Shirou questions HIna’s unbelievable trait of trusting people quickly. She says it makes her more comfortable that way which frustrates the heck out of Shirou. When he arrives in his home, he goes up to his room and watches over Hina through a surveillance camera.
Finally, Hina meets up with Tomo again and tells him how much she loves his books. Tomo also hints that it may be up to Hina’s actions on how the story will progress. Hina later invites Tomo and Kizu over to her house for dinner and she also persuades Shirou to come along. The teacher is rather annoyed with how Kizu kept on following them while the other man says that he’s only tagging along because he needs to protect Tomo. During dinnertime, a blackout occurs and surprises everyone.
I mentioned in one of my past entries that I loved the song “Eternal Snow” from an old anime series called Full Moon Wo Sagashite. And because I loved it so much, I wanted to use it in a music video. And once again, I used the Tsubasa anime because the song’s message and general feel fits this show the best.
To make it different from the first Tsubasa music video, I concentrated on using only shots of Sakura and Shaoran for this one making it a tribute to them (should I make a Fai-Kurogane tribute too? Naaaah..hahaha) . I wanted to make it dramatic yet showing that there’s hope for this two (there really is, I believe in it, wahahah). :D This is also one of my music videos that have a time length of over 5 minutes. O_O
It was so weird that I always hear about this song of Rivermaya’s but I’ve never actually heard it. When I say “hear about it”, I mean, I always see it in songhits or in articles where they say that this is one of their best songs.
Then, while I was waiting for fanmade Final Fantasy videos to play in this chat channel called LinkTV (does anyone remember this?), I saw a live version of this song. And everyone in the chat is saying that this song was good. I said to myself that it was a very familiar song but it was only then that I learned that this was the “214” song that everyone’s raving about. Hahahhaa, I had no idea. :P
Anyway, I like the tune of the song, somewhat easy-listening but retains its rock characteristics that Rivermaya got famous for. The lyrics are obviously inspirational. ^^ Now that I write about this, I wonder if Rivermaya does better when they make slow songs or is it still rock songs? Hmm.
All group pictures today. And coincidentally, all of them have white backgrounds, hahaha. Anyway, first photocard is of Inuyasha. I remember buying this on a sale. The quality’s not so good compared to the new ones, but I really like the picture so I got it anyway. I like Miroku a lot. A lecherous monk is something you don’t see everyday, lol. And he’s so cute when paired with Sango. :P
Next is from Love Hina. While this isn’t exactly one of my most favorite series, I have to say that I really like Ken Akamatsu’s art because it’s so visually appealing. My favorite is Shinobu. ^_^ Kitsune’s drawn an “x’ mark on Motoko, is that because she’s always wielding her wooden sword? Hmmm..Kenshin? ^_^ The problem is, it doesn’t match her cute kimono. Lol.
Last pic is from Chobits. We’ve got a blushing Hideki who’s probably dreaming of the three other female main characters. When you think about it, each has a familiar personality that you see in other anime. We’ve got a pleasant, nice woman in the landlady, a spunky high school student and a sexy but heartbroken teacher, hahaha. Chii seems to be imitating Hideki again. Or is she slightly frowning because he’s preoccupied with thoughts of other women? ^o^
The first Angela Aki song that I heard was “This Love” from the anime Blood+. I have a copy of this series but even though I haven’t seen it, I fell in love with her voice. It’s just so clear and strong.
Later on, my sister raved about the beautiful theme song for Final Fantasy XII. It was “Kiss Me Goodbye”. When I heard it, I thought the voice was mighty familiar and as I thought, it was Angela Aki once again. ^_^
I think Angela is a very talented performer. She writes songs, composes them and plays the piano as the main accompaniment for her songs. Then I also mentioned about her amazing voice. Since she has experience living in America, her English skills are superb too perhaps that’s why she’s also famous in US. And yet, her Japanese songs are equally well-received by the people.
“Home” also happens to be the title of her latest album. I really love this song, the opening bars are somewhat familiar but it gets better and better. Please try listening to it. ^_^
