Omg. Pure LSS factor. This is what “Sakura Kiss” definitely has. When you hear this song, you’ll probably keep on hearing it in your sleep. :P
I think it was around June or July last year when I got hooked on Ouran. At first, I thought it was a yaoi series (hahaha), but then it turns out to be a reverse harem set-up. Anyway, the song is definitely addictive. Kawabe Chieko’s energetic vocals are so catchy that you can easily sing along with her. And that “kiss kiss fall in love” part at the beginning of the song, hahaha. Well, it doesn’t make sense grammatically but hey, the same goes to most j-songs with English phrases on them. ^^;;
I wanted to feature a Bleach song but the most difficult part is choosing which one to put! Bleach is like Full Metal Alchemist, so many great opening and ending themes to choose from. In the end, I picked Younha’s “Houki Boushi”.
When I first heard the song, I thought that it was really catchy and dancy. I also immediately (and easily) picked up the rhythm and the tune. In short, Houki Boushi is one hell of an LSS-worthy song.
The fact that this song was used while showing all the Gotei 13 captains and lieutenants is a plus. The images for every ending theme are different and the song is not the type that you’ll easily get tired of it.
I first heard about Suga Shikao when he sang "19sai" (the opening song for xxxHolic). Had it not been for Honey and Clover, I wouldn't know that he had a lot of other wonderful songs.
My sister was raving a lot about the anime "Honey and Clover" and I simply had to see why she thinks it's worth seeing. Sure enough, I got hooked on it. I think one of the biggest plus factors of this anime is the abundant amount of beautiful insert songs.
It was definitely hard to choose only one song to talk about because I have a lot of favorites but "Sorosoro Ikanakucha" (or roughly..."I have to go now") is special to me because it was my very first favorite Hachikuro song so this one left a big impression on me.
Suga Shikao's voice has nothing special on it. It might even sound weird because he's got this raspy voice (that made me remark that he needed a lot of Strepsils) that make him sound like an old man. But later on, I got used to his style and I even liked it. (By the way, Suga Shikao is quite old already yet he's got this perpetually young-looking face ala Laruku's Hyde, hahaha). His face was slightly used as the basis for Mayama's character image. ^_^
"Sorosoro Ikanakucha" was used as an insert song in the 13th episode of Honey and Clover. The song is overall relaxing and easy to listen to. A perfect lounging song, lol.
I've always loved songs from Full Metal Panic because they're all sung by Shimokawa Mikuni who became one of my most favorite Japanese singers after hearing her sing Gensomaden Saiyuki's ending theme "Alone".
"Minami Kaze" (or "Southern Wind", I think...) is a nice upbeat and relaxing song (that's perfect for listening when you're traveling with high speed, just kidding, hahaha). It was used as the opening song of the third installation of the Full Metal Panic series that was subtitled as The Second Raid. I heard the music video of this song sucked a lot but I haven't seen it myself so I can't say. Ah well, it's the song that matters. ^^;;
At first, the songs of Prince of Tennis reminded me too much of the songs from Slam Dunk - inspirational lyrics, an upbeat rhythm and all. but when I heard their fifth opening song "Fly High", I started to think of PoT songs differently. =^_^=
The song just made me go "awww...". And it didn't help that the intro of the song showed Captain Tezuka about to watch a game of Echizen Ryoma. It was too much!! (kya!!). It's like watching the dad see his beloved son off (kya~). I always joke with my sister that Tezuka is like Ryoma's father (and Fuji is the mom, kyaa x2~) because he's especially kind and nurturing to Ryoma (though he still looks like a strict dad...er, captain). "Fly High" still had the same inspirational lyrics and upbeat tune, by the way. But really, this song stands out a lot along with "White Line" and "Wonderful Days" which I think are really good songs as well. ^^ Hmm, I might feature them next time!
For long-time anime fans, this might be a nostalgic treat. I have been interested in this series for a long time because it resembled one of my favorite magical series which is "Fancy Lala". ^^;;
"Eternal Snow" was the second single of the main character Full Moon (also known as the real main character, Kouyama Mitsuki) and in my opinion, it's probably her most significant song because it had a real story. It was actually the song that Mitsuki's father wrote for his wife back when he was still a part of the phenomenal band Route L. Upon successfully digging up a music box that played this song, Mitsuki was determined to make her own version of it as her pop idol persona Full Moon. Unfortunately, her rival, Madoka, found out about it and sought to challenge Full Moon with the same song. In the end, despite the fact that Madoka had a first class producer, her version of Eternal Snow wasn't appreciated much which had the opposite response to Full Moon's version (which the producer commented to have more feeling and emotion than Madoka's).
I liked this song even before I saw the series but after seeing it, I liked it so much more. The voice of Myco (Mitsuki/Full Moon's seiyuu) takes some time of getting used to because to me, it sounded like she's always about to cry while singing. It's kind of hard to imitate or sing-along with her voice too, but still, I think this would be one of my all-time favorite anime songs for a long time.
I have seen the complete "To Heart" series a looong time ago but I haven't had the chance to see the second series yet. But listening to their ending song by accident in Animenfo Radio made me immediately fall in love with it. later on, I was able to find an acoustic version of the song and it wowed me more. I'm sharing this version too, btw. The original version can be downloaded at Gendou.
The artist, Suara, has such a mellow and relaxing voice that can be likened to Sakamoto Maaya. Suara's voice is simple, and she uses only a few techniques but the result is a nice and LSS-worthing song. Actually, this is what I like about most Japanese singers, they don't overdo a song. Anyway, I would love to listen to more of Suara's songs if I get a chance to download them because I'm certainly her fan already.
I haven't seen To Heart 2 yet but I think this song fits the nice-y, slice-of-life theme of the series. ^_^
