All group pictures today. And coincidentally, all of them have white backgrounds, hahaha. Anyway, first photocard is of Inuyasha. I remember buying this on a sale. The quality’s not so good compared to the new ones, but I really like the picture so I got it anyway. I like Miroku a lot. A lecherous monk is something you don’t see everyday, lol. And he’s so cute when paired with Sango. :P
Next is from Love Hina. While this isn’t exactly one of my most favorite series, I have to say that I really like Ken Akamatsu’s art because it’s so visually appealing. My favorite is Shinobu. ^_^ Kitsune’s drawn an “x’ mark on Motoko, is that because she’s always wielding her wooden sword? Hmmm..Kenshin? ^_^ The problem is, it doesn’t match her cute kimono. Lol.
Last pic is from Chobits. We’ve got a blushing Hideki who’s probably dreaming of the three other female main characters. When you think about it, each has a familiar personality that you see in other anime. We’ve got a pleasant, nice woman in the landlady, a spunky high school student and a sexy but heartbroken teacher, hahaha. Chii seems to be imitating Hideki again. Or is she slightly frowning because he’s preoccupied with thoughts of other women? ^o^
Today's photocards feature has a bit of everything. A card with a single character, a pair and a group. ^_^
First up is a very adorable chibi-fied Tezuka Kunimitsu from The Prince of Tennis. I just love the chibi versions of the PoT characters but Tezuka is especially the cutest (read: No nose! hahaha). Even in chibi form, Tezuka is not smiling, dang. Ah well, he got distorted enough in the chibi episodes so it's okay, lol. ^_^
Next is a pair. A very nice-looking pair. I haven't seen Gundam Seed yet (only got as far as three episodes, gyahaha) but I think Lacus and Kira look really good together (of course, my muddled head would also find Kira and Athrun nice together but that's an entirely different story, lol). The colors of Gundam Seed is very...vibrant. :)
And last, a group picture, featuring the wacky Ranma 1/2 main characters. :D I love P-chan to bits and I feel sorry for Ryoga in many ways but I'm still a Ranma-Akane advocate (and sometimes Ranma-Ukyo but well, there's Akane, hahaha). I hated Shampoo in many episodes but she's cute with Mousse. :P I think Ranma-chan (girl version) is criminally cute! Sometimes I wish she stays that way, hahaha. But then there won't be a Ranma/Akane pair anymore sooo... :D I just love that episode when Ranma-guy got possessed with his fear of cats and ended up giving a cat-smooch to Akane. Kyaaaaa! So cute! XD
Third photocards post is invaded with CLAMP goodness overload! Yay, yay, yay. :D
First pic is from Magic Knight Rayearth. I think is is one of my all-time favorite MKR pics. I love the bubbles effect and the girls' element signs above are a great addition. And Mokona's cute, what else can I ask for? :D
Second pic is from X/1999. Lovely Subaru and Seiishirou in yellow background. With sakura feathers to complete it. Yay for yaoi goodness, ohohohoo~ (cue: "Omg, their love is so canon!")
Last pic is from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. I think this is one of my most favorite TRC pics, it's just so adorable! Sakura and Shaoran as children plus little cute green birds (haha). I can't describe it but there's something about this art that gives it a really nice effect.
If I would talk about a long-time hobby, it would probably be cross-stitching. Longer than my fascination over anime and Japanese culture, cross-stitching has been with me since my high school days. I remember ogling at this really nice book of cross-stitch patterns and designs brought to us by our aunt who is residing in America now. It was a really nice book because it featured seasonal projects, flower projects etc.
Particularly, I like to cross-stitch angel or women patterns. I'm not sure why, though. Maybe it's because I adore the dresses and gowns worn by them and it's the closest thing I can get since I can't sew to save my life. ^^;;
My first major project was back in high school when I did a big pattern featuring an angel who wore a Calla Lily dress pattern. I would take a picture of it but then I couldn't reach it well enough to get a clear shot since it's framed already and a bit too high for me.
After that project, I lucked out on finding an anime pattern featuring Card Captor Sakura in Megamall's Stitches N' Things. It had Sakura in her school uniform (with her rollerblades) and accompanied by Kero-chan. Unfortunately, the pattern was a bit low quality so the finished product didn't satisfy me much.
After that, it took me a long hiatus before getting interested in cross-stitching again. The then newly-opened Craft Store in Megamall may have something to do with it because they sold a lot of nice and cheap patterns. And since I mentioned that angels or women are my favorite subjects, I picked this beautiful picture of a queen wearing a gown likened to the autumn season. Thus, her name "Autumn Queen".
It definitely took a lot of time to finish it because of many reasons. First, the fact that I'm working now means less time for me to do it since when I get home, I'm usually tired already and cross-stitching is not good if your eyes are not in condition. This is why I had to settle in doing it every weekends or holidays. Secondly, this is probably the biggest project I've done so far so naturally, it would take much longer to finish.
The best part of this project is probably my first attempt in using metallic threads. I have used them before in the Calla Lily design but it was just for adornment. In the Autumn Queen project, I used about 4 different metallic threads and believe me, it was quite hard. The texture was definitely rougher and strangely, they are easily tangled. Still, it was worth it to add the sparkly stuff in the project.
And so, here's the finished product. It has a size of about 30 by 36 inches. It took me about 7 months to finish. Probably, I won't be doing a project this big for a while and settle for smaller ones for the time being. ^^
Yatta, the second installment of photocards babbling, hahaha. This time, I want to share three more from my collection. ^^
The first one is from Getbackers and intended to delight yaoi fans such as myself. The facial expressions of Ban and Ginji can make any yaoi fangirl think of...other things. Ohohoho~~
Second photocard is of Slam Dunk. It's rare to find a good picture of the SD characters together with their opponents. Very very nice. *thumbs up*. Don't you just feel oh so nostalgic about Slam Dunk? I remember the time when I was so addicted to it and would follow the eps faithfully on AXN. :D
And last, from a popular series nowadays, Bleach! XD I think it's a very cute pic of some of the Soul Society characters. Hitsugaya and Momo are particularly nice looking in this pic. ^_^ They're one of my most favorite pairs. Oh and Kenpachi and Yachiru are simply hilarious together. :P
Well, photocards. I remember hearing a mom walk up to one of the salesladies in Comic Alley (Megamall) and asked her the purpose of the cards. And after thinking for a few minutes, the saleslady said, "Wala lang po." (None) ^^;; Well, it's sort of true. I guess photocards don't have much use but it makes this anime fan happy. ^_^ They're lovely to look at over and over again (like your own tangible mini-gallery). Oh and they make nice bookmarks. Haha. ^^;;
Anyway, the first photocard there is from Card Captor Sakura. I think I have about seven CCS cards and I never seem to get tired of checking if they have new good ones, haha. This one's taken from the second movie and I bought because I simply love the play costumes of Sakura and Shaoran. Kyaa, they're just so meant to be together..haha~
The second one is of Kyou from Fruits Basket who is my ultimate favorite Furuba character
( I mentioned that in my last entry, hee). I can go on and on about why I like Kyou but I'll spare everyone. ^o^ Anyway, Kyou looks very handsome here, doesn't he? I mean..even orange hair suddenly looks good! XD
The third one's one of my first photocards given by a friend, it's a villains group pic from Gensomaden Saiyuki. Er, slight villains, okay. Kougaiji's my favorite Saiyuki character by the way (most of the time, I like him more than Sanzo who I thought was my favorite character back then.) Yaone is also my favorite. I seem to like bumbling villains, haha. And I also think she and Kougaiji make a lovely couple, bwahaha. I wrote a short fanfiction on them but I seem to have lost it for good. Dang.
