Card Captor Sakura has a lot of plus factors and one of them is definitely the good music set. With a total of 4 bgm cds for the TV series, one for each of the two movies and about three vocal collections, CCS fans (like me) will never get tired of the lovely background music and catchy theme songs that the show offers.
”Memories of Warmth” is one of my all-time favorite CCS bgm songs. I think it’s only played about two to three times during the whole series but it’s still unforgettable for me. This song is the one that Kinomoto Nadeshiko taught to her son (lovely, fafable Touya) in the piano. During the episode when Sakura inherited her late mom’s old calendar, Touya played this song in the school piano for probably no reason at all (maybe because he saw Sakura leafing eagerly through her mom’s calendar, haha). I absolutely love anime guys who can play the piano. *_*
I first heard of the duo Depapepe through that really cute music video of them that I saw in Animax. That music video is for their song “Summer Parade”. After hearing that, I knew that I must absolutely hear their other songs. Luckily, my sister was able to nab a lot of them from various sources.
Among their songs, “Wedding Bell” stood out a lot because it was a really nice and mellow song. I think I prefer Depapepe’s slower songs than their faster ones (though Summer Parade was quite catchy). Wedding Bell would probably be most suitable for listening while lying down or looking out the window (for drama effect, haha). ^^
Anyone who has seen the anime "Victorian Romance Emma" would find this bgm very familiar. It's probably the perfect instrumental for the series. Aptly entitled "Emma" after the protagonist, this song has two other variations - a harpsichord and piano version. This one that I'm sharing is the original version and in my opinion, the best one among them.
The song is frequently played all through out the series and especially during really nice scenes like when Emma brushes her hair and takes a rest after a day's work or when she reflects (and blushes, kya~) about William. It's a really uber-great instrumental song. *gushes* Perfect for ze love day today. Happy Valentines! XD
I entertained the idea before of making my own compilation of my favorite piano bgm from anime or game series. This song is always on my list of prospect songs. ^_^
I think I heard this bgm for the first time during the episode when Kenshin lost his sight from the battle with Amakusa Shougo. He woke up seeing nothing but felt Kaoru's presence easily. Kaoru mends Kenshin's clothes while he adjusted himself to his situation. Then Kaoru and Kenshin talk some more and in the end, they held each other's hands. *sigh* Such a lovely and peaceful scene. *_*
The second time I heard it was during the 95th episode when Kenshin and Kaoru checked in an inn since it was heavily raining the day they visited Tomoe's grave. Kaoru was feeling all fidgety about the idea of sharing a room with Kenshin and when they were already lying down, she hesitantly (at first) placed her hand on Kenshin's. At the time when she already closed her eyes, Kenshin's eyes opened to suggest that he felt Kaoru's hand. Oh, these lovely lovely scenes! XD
There are many other variations of this song (I think there's one found in the movie) but I think this piano version is really the best. ^^
Background music in anime series have been getting more and more popular nowadays. Before, even though they are there, viewers barely notice them at all. But for me, I've always liked bgm ^_^ and if the bgm and the anime mesh nicely, I would like the series more. "Boys Be" and its bgm could best fit this quality. The simple renditions of various musical instruments add to the relaxing mood of this romance and slice-of-life series.
The bgm of Boys Be is divided into 4 seasons and are simply numbered from I to IV. I like most of the bgm but what really made an impression on me was "Winter IV". It's also probably the most frequently played bgm in the series. It's usually played at the end of an episode and it suggests closure or happy ending. Sometimes, when I hear a Boys Be bgm song, I usually think of Christmas. So...enjoy this song, guys! And Merry Christmas!
Don't you just love it when they make a piano version of a song that you really like? Anyway, in my case, I was so happy when we accidentally found the piano collection of FFIX at Comic Alley. Being true-blue FF fans, we simply had to get it. ^^;;
Of all the FF theme songs, "Melodies of Life" would probably be on top of my list (with Suteki Da Ne coming close to second place). Both Japanese and English versions are superb and it's good that they didn't change the singer. ^_^
I think the piano version of Melodies of Life brings simplicity at its best. I was making these deep sighs all throughout the song, lol. I think it has the same effect as when I listen to "Cloud Smiles". :P
I tried playing Chrono Cross a long time ago. Unfortunately, it was too hard for me, gyahaha. I think I'll settle with Final Fantasy or Suikoden games for now. Still, I was captivated by the kick-ass opening theme song and it had been one of my favorites ever since.
When I think of the Chrono Cross game, I think of this song. "Scars of Time" sounds very Celtic-ish with a dash of Irish flavor. I simply love the violin sound (heck, I even dream of learning how to play it in the future) and the flute complements it very well. It's too bad that the song's quite short but ah well, it doesn't matter very much. ^o^
"Cloud Smiles" is the last bgm that was played in the movie "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children". It was played during the scene when Cloud helps the children "heal" their wounds in the water from the church. And as the title implies, this is also the scene where Cloud finally smiles and the viewers go "ah, finally, it's all over".
Goosebumps!! It gave me goosebumps after listening to it for the first time. It was like listening all over again to an FF game ending theme. The song is so perfect for the scene and to bring closure to the story. (and yay, Aerith's face gets shown also in this scene!)
